Broad-leaved cattail is a common plant that dominates many fresh water marshes and lakeshores. It provides excellent wildlife habitat, and protects shorelines from erosion. It's buoyant rhizomes allow it to form floating mats. A better choice than narrow-leaved cattail (T. angustifolia).
